Events at Bach

Each year, the Bach PTO plans and hosts events to support our students, families and community. To stay informed about upcoming events, make sure you are subscribed to emails. We also have a Facebook page

Here's what a typical year of events looks like:

FALL

First Day Coffee Welcome back!

After you drop your child off on the first day of school, join us on the playground from 8:50 – 9:30 a.m. Meet other Bach families, check out our volunteer opportunities and enjoy free coffee! F

 

New Family Dinner Welcome to Bach!

Meet new families and learn about Bach as we dine together in the multi-purpose room. The PTO will provide free dinner and help families connect and navigate their new community. F

 

Curriculum Night – Learn about your child’s school experience

Visit your child’s classroom and hear a brief presentation about classroom routines, curriculum, homework, and more. Some teachers ask for weekly classroom volunteers at this event, so bring your calendar!  Also, meet the Principal and the entire Bach staff. F

 

Bike/Walk/Roll to School Day – Stretch your legs

Students and families are encouraged to bike or walk to school. Consider designating a neighborhood meeting point to come together. Extra bike racks and morning snacks and entertainment provided. F

 

Grounds Beautification  Care for our school together

What better way to show your kids you care about their school than to work with them to beautify the grounds? Bring shovels, gloves, rakes or other tools to weed, mulch, and plant. Fall and Spring. F

 

Fall Fun Run  Our biggest fundraiser, promotes fitness 

Our BIGGEST fundraiser of the whole year. During the Fun Run, kids can walk, run, skip around the obstacle course. The more laps they do, the better! Families can use our online fundraising hub to share their student’s goals with friends/family or donate themselves, to help their child and all the Bach children this year!

 

WINTER 

Family STEAM Night Join us for a night of art, science, and fun

What is STEAM? Science! Technology! Engineering! Arts! and Math! Join us in the winter for an engaging and fun night featuring Bach student art and highlights from the Science Olympiad in advance of Science Olympiad registration.  F

 

National African American Parent Involvement Day – Celebrate parent involvement

ALL parents/caregivers are invited to spend all or part of this day in the classroom with their children. Pizza is provided for parent guests for lunch. Started in 1995 by distinguished educator Joseph Dulin of Ypsilanti as National African-American Parent Involvement Day, this day encourages ALL of Bach’s parents / caregivers to become more involved in their Bach student’s education. F

 

Movie Night – Snuggle up for the main feature

Join other Bach families in the MPR for a family-friendly movie, popcorn and snacks.  Bring a blanket and a pillow! F

 

Science Olympiad – Help grow a scientist

Students in grades 2 through 5 learn about science through weekly hands-on group activities led by volunteer parent coaches. These weekly practices begin in February. A small number of students are selected to compete in the Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad typically held in May. $

 

SPRING

March is Reading Month (MIRM) – Encourage kids to read

Reading Minutes  We encourage students to read and record minutes during the month of March. Parent volunteers tally the minutes with students being encouraged to achieve their reading goals.

Family Reading Night  Parents and children are invited to come participate in a variety of fun, literacy-focused activities. F

 

Book Fair

Help students select books during the week-long book fair held in the Bach library. 

  

Bach BEST Fest – Be your B.E.S.T.
All are welcome at this event celebrating our Bach Bengals and their Dens. You will learn more about what projects your child(ren) did with their Bengal Dens this year and more about the Bach BEST Values: Be Yourself, Everyone is Welcome, Say Something, Take Care of Others.  F
  

Bengal Bash  Putting the “fun” in fundraising

Get ready to party with the coolest crew in town — Bach parents! Enjoy drinks, music and food just for the grown-ups. An auction will benefit the Bach PTO.

 

Ice Cream Social – Our big community event

Enjoy ice cream, pizza, popsicles, games, and dancing in the streets. This is the last event of the school year, designed to celebrate and give back to the school's families, teachers, and staff as well as neighborhood family and friends. Buy wristbands for games, food, and drinks. $
